During these colder months it can be really hard to find the motivation to stay active, but staying active doesn’t mean going for that 4k run or the 30 minutes at the gym. It can be as simple as just adding a few things to your daily routine. Some changes you can make is when you brush your teeth in the morning and at night is to do calf raises. With this simple addition, you can add in some activity without having to change your day.
If you enjoy a morning coffee or tea instead of sitting around or playing on your phone while waiting for the kettle to boil you can add in some no weight squats, this can be a great way to keep active by trying to push yourself to get X amount of squats in while the kettle boils but to also match it or increase the number of squats next time.
Stretch it out
Adding stretching for when you’re watching tv is a great way to keep the flexibility in your muscles as well as assisting in keeping you with the correct posture. With simple stretches available for your legs, arms, back and neck it can be a simple addition without having to miss your favourite tv shows.
Make the ads count!
During the ads of your favourite show, add in a bit of a core workout routine with a couple of crunches, planks, Russian twists. You do not have to do this during every ad break, but it gives a set time. How many can you do in the ad break?
Challenge a friend to keep active with you this winter!
Staying active this winter doesn’t mean having to keep on doing all the exercise you would do during summer and the warmer months, but by making sure that you keep active so that when it does come around to summer and the warmer days when it won’t be such a challenge to get back into being active again.
