Osteopathy and Yoga – A Great Match

It’s no surprise that most people we look after want to know when the right time to get back into activity is. Everyone is going to be different when returning to exercise, depending on what’s going on with their body. We aim to provide individualized care for all our patients, as one size doesn’t fit all. However, one thing we do believe in at Whole Body Health and Wellness is the benefit of exercise for everyone. Not only because of the physical benefits, but also other benefits like increased energy, sleep and reduced stress.

Yoga is great for all levels of fitness

One of our favourite exercises that we like to recommend when getting back into some form of exercise is yoga. This is because it can come in many different forms. From slow yin yoga for beginners to stronger fast-paced yoga classes for others who might like more of a challenge. It’s a great low impact sport that doesn’t put as much pressure on your joints like other high impact sports such as running.

Yoga can be modified

Another great thing about yoga is that it can always be modified to suit the individual. We encourage you to be open and honest with your yoga teacher in letting them know about any past injuries or any niggles that you might have. If you feel uncomfortable about letting your yoga teacher know because you aren’t sure what you can and can’t do. You can always ask us to help. We like to offer our expertise in letting your yoga teacher know what is going on with to get you back to doing what you love!

How can I get started?

If you’ve never done yoga before and aren’t sure where to start, you can always ask the friendly practitioners at Whole Body Health & Wellness. We are always happy to point you in the right direction of some fantastic yoga teachers we know.
