Can you get Medicare rebates for osteopathy?
Yes, you can! However, there are a few steps you need to do to get your rebate. But don’t worry, we are here to talk you through the whole process to make it as easy as it can be.
See your GP for an Allied Health Care Plan
First, make an appointment with your GP. Your doctor will examine you and see if you fit into the criteria for the Chronic Disease Management plan (CDM) (formerly known as an EPC Program or the Enhanced Primary Care Program). To qualify, it usually means you will have had the pain or condition for longer than three months.
Once your doctor has approved your EPC or CDM, they will then provide you with up to five allied health appointments. These appointments are renewed every 12 months and can be split up into different allied health practitioners. For example, you might want to have three osteopathy visits and two visits to a dietitian.
After allocating your appointments, your GP will send us through the plan: this is an essential step! Without the plan, we cannot process your Medicare rebate.
Make your appointment
When you have received your referral, you can book an appointment with us. We have a range of allied health practitioners including osteopathy, psychology, and dietetics, and that are all included under the Medicare rebate scheme.
When you arrive for your appointment, we provide you with a thorough consultation and treatment plan for your condition. Once your appointment has finished, our lovely reception team will walk you through the Medicare rebate process.
How the medicare rebate works
You will need to pay the full amount upfront on a debit card. We will then immediately refund you your Medicare rebate of $54.60 on the spot, right back into your bank account. This way, we can make it as convenient as possible for you! There is a small gap fee for both the initial consult and for any subsequent osteopathy appointments (rebate price as of 01/07/2020).
If you have any questions about any part of the process, please feel free to contact our friendly staff at Whole Body Health & Wellness. We are always happy to help!
