Summer Listening – Podcasts

With summer holidays now upon us what have you planned for your leisure time? We asked our resident podcast enthusiast Emily, about her favourite podcasts.

Podcasts and Recorded Interviews are a great way to relax and enjoy the change in pace the warm weather brings.

While you’re knocking up a salad or lazing around after a swim, tune in to a lively topic and expand your world.

I am very interested in the connection between healing ourselves and healing the Earth, so many of the interviews I listen to are about these themes. I love the natural world and listen to Wisdom Keepers from many traditions.

Listen to the Earth

Treesisters is an amazing organisation. Founded by Claire Dubois who’s mission is to reforest the planet, I have listened to many great interviews from Treesisters “Indigenous Wisdom for the Earth series.” It’s free to sign up, and the content always inspirational.

Most recently, I heard Grandmother Mona Polacca, (one of the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers) speak on “Moving Into Right Relationships.” A profound and beautiful sharing.

Jocelyn Mercado runs the organisation We Are Sacred Planet and hosts many fantastic interviews with Shamans and Wisdom Keepers around the globe. This interview on Embracing Radical Change with Brooke Medicine Eagle is a great one. I was lucky enough to be in Circle with Brooke Medicine Eagle recently as she shared many of the sacred teachings she carries…a fantastic experience.

From the same series, Jocelyn speaks with Woman Stands Shining (Pat McCabe) in a legendary interview. Pat’s offers profound wisdom around the notion of consent, and how powerful we become when we no longer choose to give our consent to practices which harm the Earth.

All the way from Peru

Arkan Lushwala, a Peruvian Shaman, gives a great interview on this podcast from the School for Good Living. He speaks about reconnecting with the natural world as a powerful way to heal ourselves, the importance of ceremony, and embodying deep humility at this time when Earth’s balance needs restoring. As we remember and embody this, we remember our connection to all things.

Closer to Home

In this short sharing, Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr-Bauman from Daly River in the Northern Territory speaks about Dadirri.

“The word, concept and spiritual practise that is dadirri (da-did-ee) is from the Ngan’gikurunggurr and Ngen’giwumirri languages of the Aboriginal peoples of the Daly River region (Northern Territory, Australia).” SOURCE

Miriam-Rose beautifully shares how being still, deeply listening and bringing awareness to the deep spring within us refreshes and renews our spirit. She reminds us that there is always time to attend to this still, tranquil place. I greatly admire Miriam-Rose’s passion and the wisdom she so generously shares.
